The second round of snow came through the Southern Kansas City, Missouri area Monday, February 25, 2013 starting around 9pm.
These bands where very wet snow and the temp. hovered around 33/35 degrees for the majority of the early night. There were not that many cars on the road, therefore everyone took every precaution that was given. The traffic light billboards as well were letting people know that if any car was abandoned than it would be towed. Heading out to Lee's Summit, Missouri there was a moderate band of snow which made it a little difficult to see the road. In Lee's Summit crews were clearing off walk ways at the shopping center off of Chipman Rd. When heading back to the Kansas City Metro the Grandview Triangle was void of cars. This is a big thing because it is one of the busiest sections of the Interstate…Driving West of I-435 I pulled over to help a young girl who had high centered her car. There were 2 KDOT trucks trying to help her shovel out her car. Needless to say…both trucks left her there. I helped with what I could and then a nice gentleman stopped and pulled her car out of the snow with a chain.
