High winds from a strong low pressure system and the almost ice covered lake caused what can only be called a Mini Glacier event on the south side of Mille Lacs Lake in the town of Onamia, MN
With winds gusting over 35 miles per hour this morning, part of the massive ice sheet covering the lake started to move and when it moved, it moved south and came on shore like a glacier into the Izatys Resort area.
Footage shot on the south side of Mille Lacs Lake (Pronounced Mil-Lac-s) and is French for “One Thousand Lakes” because of it size. The area is located about 100 miles north of Minneapolis, MN. Mille Lacs is the second largest lake in the state of Minnesota. It has an area of 132,516 acres or 207.06mi² which was still over 90 percent covered in about 12 to 15 inches of ice this morning.
By the time it was over, the depth of the mini glacier was one to three feet at the edge near the town houses to over 25 feet at the lake shore. Maintenance personal for Izatys Resort said that clean up could take all summer due to the ice moving massive lake side and under water boulders onto the shore.

Severe storms ripped across central Texas on Thursday with massive hail causing damage to numerous vehicles. Many reports of hail up to and exceeding baseball sized were reported with supercells that developed around and south of Abilene.

The Minnesota State Patrol and MNDOT shut down traffic along Interstate 94 this afternoon. The accident happened in the construction zone where MNDot has Interstate 94 reduced to one lane in each direction from County Road 75 to Clearwater, MN. Traffic was diverted onto County Road 75.
In the video you can see the Semi Truck, Yukon XL SUV and the silver vehicle which looks like a Minivan or crossover Mini-Suv, were involved in a three vehicle crash about a mile south of the Opportunity Drive exit on Interstate 94.
The condition of the driver of the silver vehicle that was in the center ditch are unknown at this time and were already taken away by EMS workers at the time of this video.

A powerful winter storm system is creating a heavy wet nightmare for drivers along Interstate 35 in southern Minnesota this evening.
The winter storm warning remains in effect until 10:00 a.m. Thursday morning.
Footage shot on Interstate 35 around the Owatonna, MN area where several inches of heavy wet snow have already fallen and accumulated on the grassy surfaces. The roadways have also cooled off to where they are also becoming covered in snow when it should be the middle of spring.

Interstate 94 was shut down this afternoon in Saint Cloud, MN due to a wild fire that quickly got out of control before the Saint Cloud and Saint Augusta fire departments arrived on the scene.
Footage was shot from the county road 136 bridge or Oak Grove Road SW, over Interstate 94 as the high winds and dry grass made the fire expand quickly along the east bound lanes of Interstate 94 towards the county road 75 exit ramp.

Everyone in the greater Twin Cities metro area of Minneapolis and Saint Paul metro area of Minnesota, and the rest of Minnesota is hoping that this is the final winter storm and final round of snow for the season.
A powerful winter storm dumped another half of a foot of heavy wet snow in the south metro area of Dakota County.
Even the crews at the Minneapolis International Airport had to go back to winter mode to de-ice airplanes this evening.

Waters are on the rise along the Mississippi River across southern Illinois after a weekend of rains further north that is moving down the river. Other tributaries further north, including the Kaskaskia River near Vandalia are adding water to the rising river.
In the town of Chester, Illinois, the river is at moderate flood stage with a crest expected Tuesday afternoon at around 38′, 2 feet below major flood stage. As of 4:00pm, the river at Chester was 36.23′ with a slow rise expected overnight. The river is expected to fall below flood stage (27′) on Friday.

Another powerful winter storm system is hitting central Minnesota hard again with more heavy snow and sleet. A foot of snow is has fallen over the Stearns County, MN area around the city of Saint Cloud, Minnesota.
B-Roll footage shows the horrible driving conditions due to the heavy snow. The snow fall rates were over an inch and a half an hour at times.
Any vehicle that crashed on Interstate 94 and was not blocking the roadway was actually left on the side of the road due to low visibility from the heavy snow making it too dangerous for tow truck crews to remove the vehicles until after the storm.

An outbreak of severe weather pounded Oklahoma on Wednesday with tornadoes, very large hail, winds, and rain. Many supercells forming across southwest Oklahoma trained over the same areas, with storms moving up along I-44 from Lawton and multiple rounds of storms hammering the region.

It may be Spring but the west central and northwestern Minnesota are getting slammed with another brutal winter storm system..
A mixture of snow, sleet and freezing rain fell over the area around Barnesville, MN which is in Clay County and just 22 miles southwest of the Fargo & Moorhead metro area.
This area was the focus due to a major wreck along Interstate 94 that shut the interstate down for most of the afternoon and into the evening. Several tractor trailers hauling livestock crashed, along with several other vehicles just south of the Barnesville, MN area on Interstate 94.
The highest wind gusts that I recorded in the truck was 52.5 mph.

Heavy snow and freezing fog started up during the overnight hours. B-Roll footage from around Duluth, MN from Canal Park down by the lake shore to the west side of town up on top of the city of the heavy snow.

The major winter storm which has wrecked havoc from Colorado across the plains has now moved into the Midwest where it is hammering Indianapolis with snow rates up to 2-inches per hour. Snow in Indianapolis began around 4:30pm Sunday and started briefly as a sleet/snow mix before turning over to all snow and coming down at such fast rates that road crews could barely keep up with clearing the snow from major routes. Up to 5-inches of snow fell in parts of Indianapolis within the first 2-3 hours of the storm’s onset. Visibilities dropped to less than 1/4 mile at times as depicted in the video.
First part of video package opens with POV shot following a snowplow beneath a I-DOT sign stating the ongoing winter storm. Follows with shots of a police car on the side of I-465 with very heavy snow falling. Mix of POV and tripoded shots of vehicles on the side of the road having issues in the very heavy snow. More shots of plows followed by various driving and traffic shots showing the very limited visibility in the heavy snow and fog. First part closes with shot of snow falling against trees.
Second part taken from Indianapolis International Airport as the storm got going around 5:00pm. Establishing shots of control tower from various angles followed by shot of vehicles at the unloading zone at the front of the airport. Several shot of planes being de-iced in the snow and fog. Couple shots of the information signs showing various delays (in red) and cancellations of flights due to the weather. Few shots of people waiting around at the airport with a final shot of a man looking at the information board.

Heavy snow fell in areas not use to seeing snow, especially this late in the season! Snow up to half a foot fell across portions of northeast Arkansas on Thursday making a mess of roads and doubling the season snow totals with just this one storm in many areas. A few areas saw nearly half their annual average with this storm. Winter Storm Warnings were posted ahead of time for this rare event.
PART 1 (daytime) – Corning, Arkansas (0:00-2:20)
Video package opens with moderate snow falling at the “Welcome to Arkansas” sign just north of Corning. Several shots of the sign with snow falling as well as a “Arkansas” sign at the rest area just inside state lines.
Various shots follow of snow falling in Corning as the storm got going across northeast Arkansas just before dark. Various shots of traffic in the snow as well as people in the snow. B-roll of heavy snow falling in front of trees.
PART 2 (nighttimetime) – Jonesboro, Arkansas (2:20-5:33)
Segment opens with shots of the Jonesboro welcome sign with heavy snow falling. Goes to POV of near blinding snow on the approach into town.
Several shots of snowplows around Jonesboro clearing the roads which remained wet and did not freeze.
Next shot of a vehicle that lost control and ran across the median into westbound traffic on US-63; wide shot showing the tracks of the vehicle that eventually came to rest on the westbound shoulder. Several shots closer of vehicle which was not damaged, but needed a tire replacement. No one was injured. Another shot of two trucks that had a minor fender-bender on US-63. Again, no injuries.

This is a combo video from all of the footage that I shot on Monday.
From the start of this footage until the 3:20 time frame is video from along Interstate 94 around Alexandria, MN where the blizzard has created dangerous driving conditions to the point where the Minnesota State Patrol has shut down the interstate to all traffic from Alexandria to the Moorhead, MN near the North Dakota state line.
The warning to all drivers said: I-94: Road closed. between the start of I-94 (near Moorhead) and MN 127 (near Alexandria). The road is closed. Be prepared for heavy snow. Look out for drifting snow on the roadway. Visibility is reduced.
B-Roll shot along interstate 94 as I drove into the city. Footage shows the road closed signs, nasty driving conditions, snow plows and a rest stop that was full of semi trucks.
In the next scene from the 3:20 to 8:30 time frame is B-roll footage of the winter storm hitting the Minneapolis, MN area. Bulk of the footage shot in downtown Minneapolis on the Nicollet Mall of people walking in the wind driven snow while going to work. Additional traffic shots shot in Interstate 94 in the metro area.
From the 8:30 to the end of the video is more of the powerful winter storm is still pounding central Minnesota this afternoon. Travel was not advised on parts of Interstate 94 and the interstate was still closed from Moorhead, MN to Alexandria.

The Luck of the Irish was in the sky but there was no pot of gold at the end of a rainbow, just colorful Aurora Borealis or The Northern Lights that filled the sky in Central Minnesota.
A Geomagnetic Storm is in progress at this moment that was caused by a coronal mass ejection (CME) that hit the Earth’s magnetic field at around midnight central time.

Blizzard conditions continued across eastern Nebraska through the day on Sunday with high winds and snow causing white-out conditions all over southeast and eastern Nebraska. While I-80 remained closed, other major highways in the are were open, but were very hazardous to travel.
