A twin-engine Cessna charter flight out of Nassau, Bahamas crashed right after takeoff into Lake Killarney this afternoon today in the Bahamas.
The small plane had 8 people on board that were flying to the southern Bahamas island of San Salvador.
Eye witnesses said that one of the engines caught on fire, causing the plane to lose power on takeoff and crash. William Bethel who helped in the rescue effort said that seven bodies were pulled from the lake by rescue workers and airport staff immediately soon after the crash. The eighth victim died after being pulled from the plane crash wreckage on the way to the hospital.
Everyone on board the flight was Bahamian.
