Winter returns to Colorado as an unseasonably warm January comes to an end. While the mountains scored best with this system, parts of Denver saw a couple inches less than 24 hours after temperatures were in the 60s across parts of the metro area. The official high temperature in Denver on Thursday was 58 degrees with 60s in a few places along the Front Range. In fact, since the first of January, high temperatures in Denver have been above 50 degrees for 14 days, so half the month thus far has been well above average. It’s a different kind of unusual weather as the year gets off to a strange start.
Video package opens up with various downtown Denver skyline shots with moderate to heavy falling snow. Various other shots of people in the snow across downtown Denver.

Record high temps in Minneapolis, MN made it feel more like late April than the second week of January. With record temps in the mid 50s around Minneapolis and little to no snow anywhere to be found, it was easier to spot people out along the Stone Arch Bridge in downtown Minneapolis or around Lake Harriet wearing shorts and T-Shirts then it was to spot snow piles on the ground.
