Video of smoke across southwest Denver from The Lower North Fork Fire burning in southwest Jefferson County. The fire was likely started from a controlled burn conducted by the Colorado Forest Service last week that rekindled Monday afternoon in high winds. As of 6:30pm MDT, the fire was estimated to be more than 200 acres and had prompted the evacuations of residents in the Pleasant Park area near Conifer with additional evacuations likely coming as the night progresses. Conifer High School has been set up as the first evacuation shelter and the Mile High Chapter of the American Red Cross was sending volunteers to the school. An additional evacuation center was set up at Chatfield High School in southwest Denver. Wind gusts nearing 70mph have been recorded at measuring sites near the fire.
Video package opens with intense smoke turning the setting sun dark red. Various shots of the sun in the smoke with the red hue of the sky. Various other shots of smoke across southwest Denver with traffic driving in low visibility. Other shots at the end of the view of the smoke from west Denver looking south at the fire.
