BNVN Weather Paparazzi Scott Weberpal was covering this major epic blizzard system along the Lake Michigan shoreline near Racine, WI at the Wind Point Lighthouse.

The video Scott produced is pretty simple to explain, BIG WAVES. The winds on the north side of the epic winter storm system that has shut down a good part of the United States was creating some major waves which crashed into the shoreline. With the air temp almost stable along the lake front at about 20F all day long, the water turned to ice almost as soon as it crashed onto the rocks along the shoreline.

Winds along Lake Michigan in the Milwaukee and Racine Wisconsin area are gusting over 40 MPH currently.

BNVN Weather Paparazzi Justin King was out to document the bad roads around Loveland, CO this morning.

Bitterly cold air pushed into the state overnight accompanied by high winds and snow showers glazing once warm road surfaces over with 1/2 inch to 1 inch of ice in spots.

Video contains numerous vehicle rollovers from drivers going too fast for conditions. Many Colorado drivers were caught off guard this morning. Daytime temps hovering in the single digits are making driving hazardous everywhere and overnight lows are expected to be well below zero tonight and tomorrow. Video also shows EMS and Fire dept crews slipping and sliding while walking on the pavement.

With the extreme sub zero temps in Minnesota today and everyone around here talking about “Its So Cold Out…” and tossing boiling water in the air, I thought it would be more interesting to see what would freeze solid first, Beer or Water. Time-lapsed footage of Beer Vs. Water freezing outside in the sub zero temps over a 55 minute time frame.

Just having some fun out in the extreme cold Minnesota weather today.

The City Hall in St. Cloud, MN was on lock-down this afternoon. Saint Cloud police Lt.. Jerry Edblad said police were searching the building after an employee spotted someone near an air duct opening with a blanket who ran from the building when they were spotted.

Lt. Edblad said about 80 people work in the building and were evacuated late Wednesday to the Saint Cloud Civic Center while police continued to search City Hall this afternoon. Saint Cloud police are currently looking for two suspects. One is a black male with a goatee, 20 to 30 years old with a slender build, about 6 feet tall and wearing a black hat or black hooded sweatshirt.

Mayor Dave Kleis said City Hall has been evacuated while police search the building for the second possible burglary suspect and will remain closed for the rest of the day.

The Mayor said there have been two break-ins at City Hall over both holiday weekends in which some equipment and food was taken. There are also two two safes in City Hall that were also unsuccessfully broken into.

Just after 3:30 p.m. this afternoon, Lt. Jerry Edblad said most of the search was completed off but officers were still using thermal imaging equipment in the basement to search the air ducts.

BNVN Weather Paparazzi Tony Laubach was out in the snow today in Denver, CO and shot video of Denver’s first big snow of the season that promises to add well to the meager 1.5″ of snow that’s fallen so far for the entire season.

Snow totals of up to a foot are possible over parts of the Denver Metro Area through Friday morning.

Video package shot at the Orchard Town Center outdoor mall on the north side of Denver (Westminster). With an extremely busy post-Christmas week, the snow cleared out crowds entirely as barely anyone came out to the mall. Video opens up with the Christmas tree in the center of the mall and follows with various shots of the few brave souls who came out in the sub-freezing temperatures and even colder wind chills. Various shots of bundles up kids and adults along with traffic shots in the falling snow.

In Sarasota, FL this morning, BNVN Weather Paparazzi shot this video of cold ‘sand blasting’ winds on Siesta Key Beach. The southern end of the massive storm system that brought blizzard conditions to the northern states is now pushing into Florida. Most of the state of Florida is under Hard Freeze Warnings and even ind Chill Warnings for the Sunshine State.

The good news about this weather is that the surfers in Florida are loving it with high surf warnings for the Gulf Coast of Florida.

The powerful winter storm system that hit Minneapolis, MN with blizzard conditions and dumped 17 to 21 inches of snow on the area is moving to the east.

Warning, don’t try this at home. If you burn your house down, don’t blame me.
*** THERE IS NO METAL IN THE JALAPENO PEPPER ***

While cooking dinner and needing to thaw out a frozen Jalapeno in the microwave, I found that some of them will get really hot, and will actually spark like metal in a microwave.

*** THERE IS NO METAL IN THE JALAPENO PEPPER ***
The microwaves cook with waves of energy that excite the water
molecules in your food which cause your food to cook.

In just the right size frozen foods, such as a frozen Jalapeno,
the microwave will an create electrical charge in the food that
could spark.

This is really a fire in the microwave, so don’t try this at home.

For those of you who don’t know who David Weathers is, he is a professional venomous snake handler and animal trainer. He has appeared in many different TV shows on Discovery Channel, Discovery Health and Animal Planet. He was featured in MTV’s WildBoyz series, NBC Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and various other shows on cable television along with making a guest appearance in the movie Jackass Number 2 and Jackass 3D.

I was lucky enough to stop by his little ranch in southwest Florida while he was filming some new material for his website. The first part of the video below, David talks about his animals. In the second half of the video, David performs some of his snake handling skills with three different cobras.

Yes that was not a typo; just a few feet in front of the camera at one point there were three very large and very unhappy snake’s in front of me and the other photographers shooting content for his website.

I learned that the snakes like warm weather but they did not like the very hot weather that was happening that day in Florida. David had a few of what I would call “Close Calls” with the snake’s but he made it seem just like a day at the office.

Update Note: 9/11/2014 I did not pick up the guy in the middle of the storm because what he was looking for was right down the street. I had walking pneumonia and in a shady city with a lot of expensive gear and 30 gallons of fuel sitting in the back seat. For those of you complaining about why I did not pick the guy up, I ask why did the Mayor not order the evacuation sooner? The same mayor, Nagin who this week began serving a 10-year prison sentence, following his conviction in February on 20 criminal counts! Why did I give the second guy a ride? Because, I had already filled up my truck with the fuel cans, gave away most of my survival supplies to the police at the airport and had all my stuff packed up and ready to drive to Houston and go home. AND he did not have far to go and knew exactly where he needed to go. And he had a puppy with him and I don’t care what race you are, if you are risking your life to save you’re pet, that wins points for me. REMEMBER, after the storm the next day when I knew I was going to Houston that night, I gave away the several empty fuel can’s, weeks worth of survival supplies of food and 10 gallons of bottle water that were also in the truck and had room in the vehicle for the man and his dog.
