Powerful winter storm buries the Southeast on January 28 and 29 leaving many stranded who are not used to such wintry and cold conditions.

To see the rare sight of the frozen Apostle Sea Caves, you must walk along the shore line for about 1.5 miles from the parking area.
The hike to the cave is not an easy one as you are walking along the shore line over numerous snow drifts, ice heaves and then once you get near the caves, you are walking on the slippery ice itself.
The hike out takes about 45 minutes and depending on weather conditions, with the winds blowing across Lake Superior, plan on walking in near blizzard conditions due to the blowing snow and cold temperatures.

A rather surprising blast of snow caught many drivers in Indianapolis off-guard as a quick 1-2 inches fell in a very short amount of time early Thursday afternoon. This storm hit central Indiana as a major blizzard ripped through parts of the northern Plains.
The quick blast of snow slickened highways across Indianapolis leading to a few accidents, including a jack-knifed semi in the center media of southbound I-465 at W. 10th Street. Crews were able to keep the interstate open as they cleared the scene. The driver was injured and taken away in ambulance.

With the prolonged extreme cold temperatures in the Upper Midwest, and double digit negative highs for most of Minnesota, here is an extreme cold example for vehicles that do not have strong enough Anti-Freeze in their cooling system.
