Video Description

A small fire was sparked by an apparent lightning strike in the already burned areas near the Sierra Grande Fire in northeast New Mexico. According to a 9-1-1 dispatcher, crews were already in the area monitoring the smoldering Sierra Grande fire when an apparent lightning strike sparked a small fire on the west side of the Sierra Grande Mountain approximately 6 miles southeast of Capulin, New Mexico. Those crews were quickly able to contain this fire before it spread.

Video shot from approximately 3 miles west of the fire from County Road A045 just north of County Road A107 approximately 4 miles south/southeast of Capulin. Also scene filmed from 3 miles west of Capulin along US-87.

Opening shot at full zoom showing a couple of trees fully engulfed before smoke overtakes the flames (fire visible from approx 2-3 miles away). Several wide shots looking over US-87 from west of Capulin with traffic passing with smoke coming from the mountain. Several more shots from the county road of smoke in the trees. Finishes with several more very wide shots over US-87 looking east toward Capulin and Sierra Grande.
