Significant winter storm begins to hit parts of the Midwest with heavy sleet accumulating during the late evening hours on Thursday. A cold front pushing through the region dropped temperatures 20 degrees in less than 15 minutes, turning rain into freezing rain, then quickly over to sleet. Sleet accumulated over an inch in some places before midnight.
