Freezing rain and sleet start the winter storm across southern Illinois as rain changed over to freezing rain briefly, then to sleet by 10am. A glazing of ice on cars and signs occurred with the freezing rain before sleet fell for a little over an hour and accumulated to about 1/4\". Shots include vehicles and signs with ice, people in heavy coats and umbrellas during the sleet, and traffic driving on sleet covered roads.
