Video Description
The first major winter storm of the season hammered southern Illinois where Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories were in effect overnight. Areas across the region saw as much as 3-5 inches of snow, some of it falling at a rate of 2-inches per hour. The heaviest band moved between Marion and Vienna, Illinois just after midnight where most of the accumulation took place.
Also noted from the National Weather Service in Paducah, a new daily record snowfall of 1.6\" was recorded in nearby Paducah, Kentucky beating the old record of a trace set back in 1989. This was also the largest snowfall recorded this early in November.
