Video Description
Rosemount and Apple Valley firefighters responded Monday morning to a large fire at what appears to be the MN Debre Bisrat St. Gabriel and Arsema Ethiopian Orthodox Church in Rosemount, Minnesota.
Crews were dispatched around 9:50 a.m. after reports of flames coming from the roof and bell tower. The church was reported to have been evacuated before firefighters arrived, but officials at the scene have not been able to confirm that, as the scene remains active and unsafe for emergency personnel to enter the building. The response was upgraded to a third-alarm fire around 10:30 a.m. as crews continued battling the blaze for personnel due to the extremely warm conditions. That brought additional mutual aid from Farmington and Lakeville Fire Departments. Rosemount officials tell Limitless Media News that the Minnesota State Fire Marshall is on scene to assist with the investigation into the cause of the fire.
The following video shows a large fire coming from the roof of the structure in the opening scenes, which we were told could be seen from miles away. Additional clips show fire crews on all sides of the building dumping water into the structure; the building can still be seen smoking and smoldering. Information is preliminary and will be updated as more details become available.
